The Village of Scotia Department of Public Works, in conjunction with Gorman Construction, will begin re-paving the following streets on or about Friday, September 19, 2025.

John Street between Collins Street and N. Ten Broeck Street

N. Ten Broeck Street between Mohawk Avenue and Vley Road

Center Street between Mohawk Avenue and First Street

The re-paving operation is a three-step process that will span several weeks, during which on-street parking will be prohibited.

Step 1: Milling 1-2” off the road. This will create a rough but still drive-able surface.

Step 2: Fibermat intermediate layer. A layer of emulsion, fiberglass and crushed stone will be spread on the road and compacted. Residual loose stone will be swept up.

Step 3: Top course of finish asphalt.

The Scotia Police Department will post No Parking signs the night before paving commences.  Any vehicles parked on the street that delay the paving process will be immediately towed at the owner’s expense. Please be aware that there may be slight delays entering or exiting your driveway while paving is taking place, so please plan accordingly.  Emergency vehicles will have access to your street at all times during the paving process.

As can be expected there will be traffic disruptions during this process. Please pay attention to signage and traffic control personnel throughout the duration of the project.
